The Reality of the Opioid Crisis.

Many organizations focus on addiction treatment. United Against Opioids channels the power of student communities to address prevention, education, and long-term recovery support.

The Opioid Epidemic

More than 500,000 people in the United States have died from opioid overdoses since 1999, according to the CDC. It affects people of every age and background, including college students. Fentanyl, often hidden in counterfeit pills, has made overdoses more dangerous.

Prevention & Education

Education and early action help stop harm before it starts. Our chapters teach students the facts, how to spot an overdose, and how to use naloxone.

Recovery & Support

Long-term recovery takes steady support, access to treatment, and less stigma. We are building ways to connect students with resources and peer support through our chapters.

Where we are growing

Six campuses are on our map. UMD is first.

About us

Students teaching students how to prevent overdose and save lives.

Our mission

United Against Opioids was founded on the belief that students have the power to help end the opioid epidemic. We pair research with peer education, naloxone training, and community support, one campus at a time.

Our story

In 2024, during my senior year at [your high school], I started to notice the bathrooms. Between classes, smoke and vapor hung in the air, and most people just walked past. At first, so did I. [Add what you personally saw or heard.]

Then I sat down in an opioid prevention class at the [your county] Health Department. I learned that an overdose can happen to anyone, and that something as simple as naloxone can bring a person back. [Add one fact or moment that stayed with you.]

I walked out thinking about those bathrooms, and about every student who had no one their age telling them the truth. I couldn't stop thinking about it. [Add what made you decide to act.]

That decision became United Against Opioids: a student-led network, backed by real research, that meets people where they are and gives them the skills to help. We are just getting started, and we would love for you to join us.
